How does cupping therapy work?
The suction within the cup stimulates peripheral nerves, lifts connective tissue and fascia, and increases circulation of blood and lymph fluids. From this, toxins and cellular waste are more easily eliminated by the body. Improved blood flow also brings fresh oxygen and nutrients to the area which can improve healing.
Cupping is also used to relieve pain and improve movement by loosening connective tissue and relaxing muscles. It can create an effect that is similar to a deep massage.
What are cupping marks?
The marks on the skin after a cupping treatment can reveal information about your health. A moderate problem usually creates pink or red marks on the skin that go away in a few days. A more severe build-up of toxins or stagnation (stuck energy) can leave deep scarlet, purple, or black marks on the skin that can take 7-10 days to disappear.
