As a Naturopathic Medical Doctor, I have trained at an accredited naturopathic medical school. Within the state of Arizona, I can diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illness to restore and establish optimal health. I do this by supporting your inherent self-healing process. I believe the body always knows how to heal itself, it just needs the right conditions to support this healing. Rather than suppressing symptoms, I work to identify the underlying cause of illness and develop a personalized treatment plan to address the cause of illness. I am trained in a therapeutic order, to identify the natural order in which therapies should be applied to provide the greatest benefit with the least potential for damage. I do this by:
i. Removing obstacles to health
ii. Stimulating the body’s self-healing mechanisms
iii. Strengthening weakened or damaged systems
iv. Correcting structural integrity
v. Using natural substances to restore and regenerate
vi. Using pharmaceutical or synthetic substances to halt progressive pathology
vii. Referring for high force, invasive modalities: surgery, radiation, chemotherapy.

Naturopathic Medicine can be right for anyone. It’s a system of medicine that supports people at a basic, foundational level. If you’re “generally healthy” it’s a great way for maintenance and keeping that resilience in times of stress. If you have a diagnosis or chronic illness, we will dive deep into this diagnosis, learning about it together so you understand symptoms more clearly and ways to manage health concerns to move towards optimal health, in whatever way that looks like for you.
-
Together, we discuss your health concerns and formulate a plan that meets your healthcare goals and stays within your financial budget.
I can also work alongside your healthcare team ensuring you understand your diagnosis, feel heard, understood, and are on the path to feeling healthy and well. I enjoy working collaboratively alongside other healthcare providers like medical doctors, doctors of osteopathic medicine, specialists, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, other naturopathic doctors, doctors of chiropractic medicine, dentists, nutritionists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, counselors, and so on.

While I do a lot of what primary care doctors do, under the lens of Naturopathic Medicine, by law, I cannot be considered a primary care doctor in the state of Arizona. Therefore, I encourage all of my patients to have a primary care doctor. I am happy to work collaboratively alongside your primary care doctor to make sure your care team remains in communication about your health status.

I am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in the state of Arizona. If you reside in another state, I can act as a health consultant, advising you on the most up-to-date research for your health concerns. It’s important you already have a diagnosis from your healthcare provider in your home state because I cannot diagnose or treat you, I can only consult on your health. If you have any questions about this, please schedule free 15-minute meet and greet.
-
I provide general naturopathic care to children, adolescents and adults.
I treat are depression, anxiety, sleep issues or insomnia, substance use disorder, addictions, transgender health, sexual health, LGBTQIA+ health, hypertension, grief, autoimmune diseases, hormonal health (PMS, PMDD, menopause, uterine fibroids, heavy menses, endometriosis), digestive health, heart health, fatigue, diabetes, thyroid concerns, and general wellness.
If you do not see your specific condition or concern listed, that does not mean I do not treat it. Please schedule free 15-minute meet and greet so we can get to know one another and discuss your health concerns. Through this consultation we can see if we may be a good fit to work together.

The first visit usually takes between 60-90 minutes. After that, follow-ups are usually between 20-60 minutes. If you have not been seen in over a year, your re-established follow-up will take around 75-90 minutes.
If we decide to use a specialty known as homeopathy, our visit might be 60-75 minutes long. This is because a thorough story-based intake is necessary in order to prescribe the most appropriate medicine, known as a remedy.

At the first visit, you will share your story and what has led up to your current symptoms. Your health records will be carefully reviewed and additional lab testing will be ordered, if necessary. I will also examine you with a thorough physical exam, which includes listening to your heart, lungs and other systems of the body, as appropriate. At the first visit, I typically do not prescribe any supplements or medications, unless absolutely necessary. At the first visit I may ask you to do some “homework” like monitoring diet, everyday routine, and a symptom or mood log. Please bring any recent records that you have along with any medications and supplements that you’re currently on, if possible.
Most clients will have an extended follow-up visit 1-4 weeks later. At this appointment, labs will be received and any additional supplements, medications, or remedies will be recommended. By the end of this visit, you will usually have your full treatment plan.
For your follow-up care, which is often 1-3 months later, we will review all symptoms to make sure you are responding to the treatment plan. Even after my best efforts, sometimes it’s possible that I will need to re-evaluate your case if you are not improving as we had expected. At this appointment, you and I will decide how often you will need to be seen until your symptoms have resolved. Some clients continue with monthly follow-up visits, while others might spread their visits out. This all depends on how you are responding to treatment and how much care is required. Consistent follow-up is the key to success in your case and will decrease the overall time of treatment.
-
Everyone is different. Some of my clients see results during or right after our visit. For others, change can take months. I recommend sticking with a treatment plan for 3-months so we can monitor outcomes together.

The use of homeopathic medicine varies among Naturopathic Doctors. Some may use it exclusively, a little bit, or not at all. We’re all trained to use homeopathy while in school, but mastery of homeopathic medicine takes detailed training and years of practice. Because of the additional training required for proficiency, not all Naturopathic Doctors use homeopathic medicine within their practice.

Yes, I can order blood work. I also order other specialized testing based on your health concerns. These could include food sensitivity testing, specialized GI and stool testing, breath testing, hormone testing, menstrual cycle testing, neurotransmitter testing, and much more.

No, I do not accept insurance at this time.
There are two other ways to work with insurance. I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement, but I cannot guarantee the reimbursement rate. You can also use HSA funds towards your care.

If you need to contact me between visits, please send an email or call/text Dr. Berusch at 480.420.4827. E-mail is the quickest and most effective way to connect. Please allow at least 48 hours for a response, although most messages that are sent prior to 3pm will be returned the same day. If the email or question is lengthly or requires you to be seen or a change to your treatment plan, then a visit may be required. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
-
Payment is due at the time of your visit unless you and Dr. Berusch have made unique arrangements.
-
I do offer payment plans for all patients. If you are unable to afford the cost of treatment please contact me by filling out the free 15-minute meet and greet form to discuss a plan that will work for you.
-
I do offer sliding scale payments. Please click here to see which category of payment plan may work best for you. Please note this is based on the honor system and unfortunately I cannot offer this to all of my patients. It is reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you are in need of sliding scale and the program is full for the month, we can add you to a wait list.
